PAC Surface Functionalisation Services.
Culturon offers bespoke, fee-for-service plasma-activated coating (PAC) treatments to functionalise customer-supplied laboratory materials and devices. Many research and diagnostic platforms rely on specialised consumables that lack suitable surface chemistries for stable biomolecule immobilisation, limiting performance and reproducibility.

Using Culturon’s patented PAC technology, we enable the direct covalent attachment of proteins, glycans, nucleic acids, lipids, and other biomolecules onto a wide range of polymer and inorganic substrates—without the need for chemical cross-linkers. The process produces a uniform, ultra-thin coating that preserves the native geometry and function of the underlying material while remaining fully compatible with sensitive biological and analytical applications.

We can apply PAC treatments across diverse formats, including multi-electrode arrays (MEAs), Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) plates, microfluidic devices, diagnostic cartridges, biosensor surfaces, and other specialised or custom-built substrates. This allows researchers and developers to integrate stable biomolecule immobilisation into existing platforms without the need for redesign or re-engineering.

Whether you are enhancing an existing product or developing a new application, Culturon’s PAC functionalisation services provide a scalable and reliable pathway to transform standard materials into high-performance biomolecular surfaces.

Culturon Consulting.
Culturon provides tailored consulting to support researchers, biotechnology companies, and diagnostics developers in overcoming technical challenges within their workflows.
Many experimental systems rely on precise surface interactions and effective biomolecule immobilisation, yet conventional materials often introduce variability that can compromise results.

Our team brings together expertise in plasma physics, surface chemistry, cell biology, and immunology to identify the root causes of these issues and develop practical, high-impact solutions. We work closely with clients to refine experimental design, select appropriate analytical methods, optimise surface functionalisation, and improve assay performance.

Where beneficial, we incorporate Culturon® plasma-activated coating (PAC) technology to enable stable covalent binding and enhance reproducibility. Whether you are troubleshooting an existing system or developing a new application, we help transform surface challenges into reliable, scalable solutions.
